4-year-old injured with hot lighter, step father arrested

KERRVILLE – Austin James Overgard, 23, was arrested by Kerr County Sheriff’s Office Investigators on Friday, March 29 for allegedly burning his 4-year-old step son with a hot lighter, according to KCSO.

Officials stated that Center Point ISD Police Chief Poole reported to investigators that the 4-year-old showed up to school with a burn on his neck.

Upon further investigation, KCSO said that it was revealed that the child was burned on the side of his neck with a hot lighter.

Overgard was charged with Injury to a Child.

He posted his $10,000 and according to public records, was released on March 30.
