“Catastrophic failure” of voltage sensor to blame for yesterday’s power outage in Kerrville

KERRVILLE – The Kerrville Public Utility Board (KPUB) announced the reason as to why a large portion of Kerrville lost power for a short period of time yesterday, April 16.

KPUB stated that on Tuesday at 2:12 p.m., power was lost to the Stadium Substation which affected 3,722 customers.

In a news release, KPUB reported, “The outage was caused by the catastrophic failure of an LCRA owned voltage sensor. KPUB crews were immediately dispatched to help LCRA investigate the outage.”

KPUB was able to restore all power at 2:37 p.m.

It was noted that the outage affected customers along Sidney Baker from Downtown to North of IH10, part of Loop 534, and portions of Main Street.
