Fredericksburg PD warns of new scam letter

FREDERICKSBURG – The Fredericksburg Police Department issued a warning to the community about a new scam letter that is being sent out to residents in the area.

The letter says that a bank official from Canada has come across a dormant bank account of a possible deceased relative, according to FPD.

FPD explained, “The author of the letter indicates that they have exhausted all means of contacting a relative and are hoping to come to a resolution with you who could be entitled to this money which usually totals several million dollars.”

The Fredericksburg Police Department urged residents not to correspond to the personal email address provided to you in the letter, including any other emails or phone numbers.
