KERR COUNTY – A suspect was arrested in Kerr County after being connected to two burglaries in the area, according to the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office.
After receiving word of a burglary at a residence located at 120 Hassenwinkel Road, KCSO responded and discovered that the suspect, identified as Michael Jeffery McCollum, 32, left evidence at the scene pointing police to his identity.
McCollum allegedly confessed to his involvement and was also identified as a suspect in another burglary that was reported in the 1400 block of Hassenwinkel Road, reported the KCSO.
Some of the stolen property connected to these two incidences were able to be recovered, said Kerr County law enforcement.
The sheriff’s office stated that the case was presented to the 198th Judicial District Attorney where McCollum received multiple indictments against him.
After being notified that McCollum may be headed to the Comfort area, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office arrested McCollum on May 28, 2019, for 13 outstanding Kerr County warrants.
It was additionally reported by the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office that Kerr County Deputies had previously responded to a family violence call at McCollum’s residence before his arrest so they were able to coordinate the arrest with Kendall County officials.
Kerr County records show that McCollum was transferred to the Kerr County Jail where he has pending bonds totaling $330,000.00.
