KERRVILLE – The Kerrville Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 430 Loyal Valley late Sunday night.
As Engine 1 arrived on the scene, followed by Engine 3 and Battalion 1, they said they discovered that the carport was fully engulfed with the fire spreading to a wooden fence on what KFD labeled as “A” side, and a patio deck on the “B” side.
Kerrville Fire Chief Dannie Smith described that there was significant heat radiating to a single wide mobile home behind the carport.
Upon arrival, the crew from Engine 1 started to extinguish the fire from the A side. As they worked, the Engine 3 crew began putting water on the exposures in the back, Smith said.
It was reported that Battalion 1 arrived and took command of the scene.
Smith confirmed that the fire was extinguished at 10:52 p.m.
“We checked the exposure behind the fire and found no extension to the fire inside the residence,” the KPD Fire Chief added.
According to Smith, the owner of the residence said that she was outside burning wood in her fire ring. When she went inside, her neighbors called her and said her house was on fire.
The woman did not sustain any bodily injuries during the fire.
