Chief Smith says that initial reports indicated that occupants were still inside of the residence when Kerrville Fire Department was toned out to the scene.

“Engine 2 arrived and one confirmed occupant was yelling out of a bedroom window,” said Chief Smith.

“Engine 2 safely pulled the elderly lady out of the window.”

The patient was evaluated by EMS Med 2 and was administered oxygen, and was not transported to the hospital.

Heavy smoke was found coming from the front door when KFD arrived on the scene.

Chief Smith said, “Engine 2 then went in the front door and extinguished the fire which was in the living room.”

Three dogs, three puppies, and one cat were rescued from the fire. One cat was having severe respiratory problems.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
