KERRVILLE — Peterson Health is pleased to announce that Cory Edmondson, Senior Vice President of Midland Health (Midland Memorial Hospital) has been selected as the new President and CEO of Peterson Health. The Peterson Health CEO Search Committee recommended Edmondson after working with the executive search firm of Tyler & Company on the recruitment process during the past six months. More than 250 candidates applied for the position. Tyler & Company recruitment consultants narrowed the field of qualified applicants down to 31, and then conducted additional phone interviews with those individuals before presenting the top seven candidates for interviews with the search committee last month. On Monday, April 1st, Peterson Health employees, physicians, and both the hospital and foundation board members were informed that Edmondson has accepted the offer to fill the position upon the retirement of J. Patrick Murray later this month.
Edmondson has served in leadership roles at Midland Memorial Hospital since 2001, most recently as Senior Vice President of Midland Health, an integrated nonprofit health system that includes a 474-bed acute care hospital, post-acute care services, multi-specialty physician groups, and a variety of joint ventures. Midland Health also functions as a teaching medical center for Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Edmondson received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management in 1991 from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, and his Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration in 2001 from William Howard Taft University in Santa Ana, California. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is married to Angie, and they are parents of three grown sons.
Shares Peterson Health Board Chair Mark Armstrong, “Cory is a great fit for the Peterson family, our organizational culture, and the communities we serve. He’s had an incredible amount of parallel experience in his career that will continue to advance our mission of exceptional, compassionate, patient-centered care. He has extensive experience with capital building projects and expanding physician practices and specialty groups.” Armstrong added, “We are so pleased and proud of the search process we utilized to fill this important position and find the right candidate to step into the leadership role for Peterson Health. It’s been six months and a lot of work, and we are very happy with the outcome. Edmondson is excited about his future here and is ready to continue the great work of Peterson Health and to serve our community.”
Edmondson is expected to start in his new role on Monday, May 6th. As he wraps up his work responsibilities in Midland, he plans to visit Kerrville April 15th – 17th to begin the transition process, meet the staff and tour the facilities.
Peterson Health is planning to host a public reception for Edmondson and his family during National Hospital Week in May so that the community can meet him and welcome him in his new position. For more information, contact Lisa Winters at 830-258-7628.
