Poker tournament benefit to be held for Ingram graduate Sgt. Matt Johnson’s fight against cancer

INGRAM – A Texas Hold’em poker tournament is being held to support Ingram Tom Moore High School graduate Sergeant Matt Johnson’s fight against stage 4 cancer.

The poker tournament is set for June 23 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kendall Plantation located at 20 Guthrie Road in Boerne. Registration for the event begins at 1:00 p.m. on the 23rd.

The event asks for a buy-in donation of $100, plus unlimited $50 Re-Buys for the first hour.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finishers of the poker tournament.

Along with the poker tournament, local celebrities will be competing in an ultimate donut-eating competition.

It was announced that at the event, there will be a bounce house for kids, as well as $10 BBQ plates, a silent auction, face painting, and ice cream.

Prizes and auction items include a Gucci purse, gift cards, a lifetime membership to the Bandera Gun Club, a family membership at the Bandera Gun Club, a 54 qt. cooler, a tactical ammo box, Kendra Scott products, James Avery products, and much more.

The Facebook event post said, “Matt is currently fighting stage 4 cancer and needs our help to get treatment at MD Anderson – Houston. Matt and Shelli need our prayers and donations!”
