Raccoon in Bandera County tested positive for rabies

BANDERA COUNTY – Wednesday, June 5th, the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office received notification that a raccoon had tested positive for the rabies virus.

According to officials, the incident occurred in the 300 block of Dana Dr., close by FM 3240 (Ridge Route) area of Bandera.

Residents are requested to keep an extremely watchful eye on their pets and be very cautious around wild animals, this includes no outside feeding and handling of any animals that haven’t be vaccinated against the rabies virus.

If you see any stray animal or are suspect of any animal being sick or rabid, please contact the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office dispatch at 830-796-3771, or call 911 if it is an emergency.
